If your dog is constantly having nightmares, my suggestion is to make sure you have a singular scent, something the dog will associate with you, with safety. You gotta learn to tell the difference between the 2. You'll also see them whining and their paws twitching like they're running and chasing a rabbit. As a new dog parent, you're going to see them dream bad dreams like you're seeing. He sounds really scared / hurt when it's happening.ĭoes anyone else have similar problems or advice? He gets tons of exercise during the day, usually a trip to the dog park for solid running with the greyhound or 10 hours of non-stop play at our cage-free daycare. The behavior was happening months before the infection. He recently had an ear infection but it was treated. When the pit bull is exhibiting this behavior, the other dog is sound asleep. When this happens, my other dog usually reacts though. People occasionally brush against it while walking on the sidewalk. I live in the city and we have a chain-link fence around our yard that is pretty loud. When we wake him up he wags his tail, yawns and stretches like he just woke up. When we get up to see why he's barking, he's usually curled into a ball with his eyes closed, but still barking. Every night, usually 2-3 AM, he wakes us up by barking / screaming for at least a minute or two. His typical response is to just look or maybe quietly growl. It's "Gotti's Room" and he's much more comfortable sleeping there with the cats. We have a bed for him in our room but he has taken over a comfortable queen sized bed in one of our guest rooms. He has no behavior problems at all and he is 100% confident meeting new people, in huge crowds, at packed dog parks, etc. I don't know much about his past, other than he was left in an abandoned apartment.
